So I’ve been having these visions during my meditations of textured trees and I’ve been playing with a mixture of modeling paste and acrylic gel medium to create and build textures on my pieces. Here are two of the little pieces I’ve been playing with. 
Those are little 5″ x 7″ pieces and I’m working on one right now that’s a 12″ x 12″ on wood. I have to build the layers (if i want it thick) slowly so that it doesn’t crack off, so I put on a layer and let it dry for 24 hours then come back to it with another layer and let it dry again and so on until I’ve reached the right consistency. I’ve found that this method requires my patience and so it brings to me a daily surprise to see how each layer builds and builds ๐I am also working on this new piece and here are progress pics so far ๐
I really like the eyes, even though they’re not even close to being truly done but so far they look sooo cool!
And I have finally finished this piece which I started back in January and I am really happy about it. I still have to varnish it and it will be ready for the show ๐
I am also working on portraits again… yes back to pencil ๐ I love the face, I love shading, and I miss drawing in pencil. So I thought I would rebuild my portrait portfolio and gain commission work in that avenue as well! I shall keep you posted ๐
