J.K. Rowling, author of the best-selling Harry Potter book series, delivers her Commencement Address, “The Fringe Benefits of Failure, and the Importance of Imagination,” at the Annual Meeting of the Harvard Alumni Association on June 5, 2008.  Exactly 3 years ago.  And we all know that 3 is the magic number.

For the Power of 3 – these 3 quotes stood out for me during her speech and I share with you my I Love Intuition Insight.

“Some failure in life is inevitable.  It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not live at all, in which case you fail by default.”

Living in fear of failure robs you of your inability to test your strengths, to access the magnitude that we have as Spiritual beings in this human body.  When we walk through life on eggshells, you never give yourself permission to shake it up, to live boldly and to really create waves of positive change.

“Choosing to live in narrow spaces leads to a form of mental agoraphobia and that brings its own terrors.  I think the willfully unimaginative sees more monsters, they are often more afraid.”

Our imagination can either free us or imprison us.  Through the eyes of freedom, we see possibility.  Through imprisoned eyes, we see danger and limitation.  Growth cannot happen when living a life of personal restraint.  Use your imagination wisely.

“We do not need magic to transform our world.  We carry all the power inside ourselves already.  We have the power to imagine better.”

This reminds me of the saying ‘God doesn’t call the qualified, God qualifies the called.’  It’s not about waiting for someone to hand the magic wand to us but to harness our desire and imagination and true capabilities of stepping up and into one’s life in a conscious, deliberate and intentional way.  Miracles are miracles – there is no great or small.  All change starts with our ability to imagine something more than what the eyes can see.
